              Look Good Over Forty

Forty in Hollywood is a new kind of house wife and no longer, "You're Fired!"

How to look good over forty? Take a leaf out of Bravo TV, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills franchise. Stars like Erika Jayne, Yolanda Hadid, Lisa Rinna, Kyle Richards, Camille Grammer and Lisa Vanderpump all showing there is stylish life after forty.

They say you should never wear shorts over forty, they say you should cut your hair over forty, they say you shouldn't share your daughters clothes but who exactly are "They"?

The rules in Hollywood are simple, there are no rules. However if you are wearing the same clothes in the same way, Daisy dukes, a flower power tank top and thongs as you were 20 years ago it's time for a rethink.

Styling over forty must become something you think about not just something you passively do. Each piece should be selected individually, including shoes and accessories keeping the complete emsemble always in mind. It's always better to work on your body first, the better the mannequin the easier it will be to style so a basic legging and bra top is the ideal blank canvas to begin with.

Top styling tips over forty include, younger accessories, using bold tights to highlight and accent (bare legs are a no no unless you are tall, slim, toned and tanned). Avoid completely flat shoes, everyone's legs look better with some heel. If you don't own a pair of plimsolls you need a pair, platform preferably. A pair of sneakers are essential for a younger staple wardrobe but avoid styling them with denim unless you are sure you have the correct ankle distance between the jean hem and your shoe.

You can find fantastic vintage and costume jewellery in every charity shop. Big chunky pearls will light up your face. Giving your closet a much needed once over to update and refresh is something to do when you hit forty. If you are on a budget, the key is to pick out from your wardrobe things with the tickets still on, items never or rarely worn or that just don't fit you and do some swapping with your younger chums or daughters to keep you up to date. For them your stuff will be cool and vintage.

Stylish women over 40 forget Tupperware, have a swap party instead.
