Charity Shopping
Once you have worked out you suffer from status anxiety, caring too much what others think, instead of thinking how much you care, you will need to find new ways to overcome your attitude to shopping. Visiting your local charity shop with an open mind should do the trick. Shopping second hand or recycled is no longer seen as an embarrassment but as a highly commendable gesture for all sorts of reasons. After all charity does begin at home and helps many worse off than you.
Buy new and the jokes on you.
You will be amazed what you might find if you take the time to rummage the rails. It could be anything from a Chanel jacket to a Gucci bag. Many wealthy ladies and celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Helen Mirren give to charity and often donate fabulous clothes they no longer have any use for so don't be a snob, get savvy budget style and do something good for a change.
Offer to volunteer one day a week, they need your support, and you will get first dibs as donations are sorted. If you are useless when it comes to styling yourself, charity shopping is the perfect way to practise and see what looks good on you without it costing the earth, literally. If something doesn't work, it's not a disaster if it only cost a small amount, just recycle it back and have another go.
Venus Cow says, "The clothes you envy on others are the ones that inspire you."
So when you find something that really works, next time you go shopping secondhand, take a photo with you and copy it.
